Thematic Areas
- Peacebuilding and Community Cohesion: HRI’s work in peacebuilding focus on reducing conflict, fostering dialogue, and promoting trust among divided communities through facilitation of inter-community dialogue to resolve disputes, support local peace committees, and tradition conflict resolution mechanisms, promoting inclusive participation of women, youth and organize cultural and sport events that unite diverse community. We strengthen inclusive, accountable, and transparent governance systems, capacity building for local government officials and community leaders, civic education, supporting legal aid services for vulnerable populations.
- Health: We support health facilities with medical supplies, staff training, running mobile health clinics in remote areas, maternal health programs including antenatal care and immunizations, and disease prevention campaigns.
- Nutrition: Addressing malnutrition, especially among children under five and pregnant/lactating women, community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM), nutrition education campaigns to promote balance diets, growth monitoring and screening for early detection of malnutrition.
- WASH and Hygiene: HRI ensures safe water access, sanitation facilities and hygiene practices, drilling and rehabilitation boreholes and water systems.
- Food Security and Livelihood: Addressing both immediate hunger and the root cause of poverty, reducing dependence on aid by ensuring people have sustainable access to adequate food and income generating opportunities, HRI distribute emergency food assistance, support smallholders’ farmers, through seeds, tools and training, as well as stablishing community savings and loan groups.
- Protection and GBV: Protecting vulnerable population from harm, exploitation, and abuse, especially women and children through GBV prevention campaigns and community sensitization, survivors centered including counselling, legal aid and safe space.
- Climate change and Environmental Protection: Climate resilience reduces vulnerability to floods insecurity, droughts and resource-based conflicts. HRI continues building resilience to environmental shock and promoting sustainable resources, climate-smart agriculture and water management systems.
- Shelter and Non-Food Items (SNFI): HRI support humanitarian response sectors, focusing on providing safe, dignified, and adequate shelter and essential household items to people affected by crises such as conflict, natural disasters, or displacement. It provides immediate protection, distribution of tents, construction of temporary or transitional shelters, and rehabilitation of partially damaged homes.
